I remember administering Avil 25 tablets when I was a young kid and suffered from allergy to radish and brinjal. Back then I loved to use Avil 25 tablets as it use to make me sleepy and at time I just use to fake allergic reaction just to administer a tablet of Avil and get a peaceful sleep.

SO not to mention Avil 25 is a commonly used OTC allergy medication which works well in treating minor allergic reaction but surely doe has some side effects. Being cheap it is used broadly and I guess it is one of the largest selling OTC allergy medication here in India.

Avil tablets are available in different strength and as a child I was normally administered with Avil 25 Mg, grownups normally use Avil 50Mg. Besides drowsiness Avill side effects include tiredness, weakness, nausea, stomach ache and vomiting.  Though all I suffered was from sleepiness but reports of nausea, vomiting, stomach ache, abdominal cramps have been reported in the past.

It is advisable not to use Avil tablets during day time or at time when you require high mental alertness such as while driving or operating heavy machinery.

Another important thing you should keep in mind is, just because it is cheap doesn’t mean you should be using it all the time. In case the symptoms persist and doesn’t show any sign of improvement, it would be advisable to consult a dermatologist in such case. 

To be honest, because of the many avil side effects, I don’t feel it is the safest OTC allergy medications to be used.  Avil tablets should be used only in case of extreme situations when no other allergy medications are available. In generally it would be advisable to use other OTC allergy drugs which has minimal side effects.

If you been to India, you must probably have heard about Kayam Churna, an herbal laxative used in most Indian homes. Recently I had been suffering from constipation and had visited qute a few doctor to get it treated. It’s been over 2-3 months since I have been using Kayam Churna daily and so far I had suffered no side effects whosoever. Constipation is a thing of the past now but I continue using it as because there are no side effects associated to Kayam Churna so far.

It is cheaply priced and it indeed is one of the best herbal products I have used for treating constipation, acidity and other stomach disorders. Nowadays every morning, I don’t wake up with that tight uncomfortable stomach all thanks to Kayam Churna, the best laxative I ever used.

Recently I got infected by a bacterial infection which was itchy and pretty annoying. Initially I didn’t pay much attention but in few days time the condition got worse and so I check with a general physician who recommended using Fucicort tropical cream. I didn’t want to delay any further and immediately bought a tube of the cream and started applying it on the infected site.

Direction for use

As per the instruction prescribed by my doctor, I had to apply Fucicort cream 3 times a day on the infected site.  Apply a thin layer of the corticosteroid cream and gently massage until fully absorbed by the skin.

For the first few days I didn’t feel any changes, though the itching was minimal, but after the third day of using Fucicort cream I started noticing changes. The itching had already subsided from the day one of using the cream but the bacterial infection started healing after using the cream for just three days. In less than a week, Fucicort cream healed the bacterial infection completely but I was recommended to continue to use for few more days just to complete the healing process.

Fucicort Tropical Cream contains Fusidic acid and betamethasone valerate, together the block the secretion of proteins required for the growth and production of bacteria. In case symptoms don’t improve on continual use of Fucicort cream for the specified period of time, consult a doctor.

Precautions and warnings

·         Avoid Fucicort cream in case of hypersensitivity to any of its active ingredients. Patients allergic to Fusidic Acid and/ or betamethasone valerate or have suffered any allergic reaction in the past should consult a doctor before the use of Fucicort cream.

·         Avoid using other tropical cream or using other medications simultaneously while using Fucicort cream. Some drugs may interact and cause serious side effects.

Side effects

After using it for about 2 weeks I discontinued using Fucicort cream and during the period I suffered on noticeable side effects.  Contact a doctor immediately in case any side effects occur on using Fucicrot tropical cream.
